lol, i had this problem at work a couple of days ago.

u have to deactivate it.

go to START, right click on my comp, go to MANAGE.

you will have a list of stuff on you're right hand of the screen. go to SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS and then SERVICES.

find mcfee and deactivate it or stop it and then set it to manual.



hope this helped. U will get the same problem if u installed mcfee over another antivirus program like the one that comes with your dell pc. if this is the case than start your comp in SAFE MODE and stop both programs (set them to manual too) then restart and uninstall both.

Yes it is safe to disable McAfee it truly doesn't work any better the Windows Firewall, and yes there is a way to turn of the McAfee Firewall I'm not quite sure how, just open the software and look around at the options you should find it sooner or later, if you can't find it try their website for FAQ's or tutorials.
