Should try the dried fish they call danggit. Lechon Cebu tastes great, no need for sauce. Dried mangoes. Their mango puree is also very good.

I live in Alexandria Virginia & I love Filipino food. My grandfather was born in LaGuna & I grew up on Filipino food. I am 1/4 Filipino. I have it from time to time now. I found a little carry out place up the street but you can also eat there too(small place) It's in the back of the Oriental market. I love adobo, pancit, & sootahon(SP) Funny story: I was once engage to a Filipino lady & whenever we went one of her friends house, everyone had a karaoke machine, I do karaoke but they had English songs as well as Tagalog songs, so they talked me into singing a song in Tagalog, I did but they laughed because I pronounced a word in a different way, they told me some words have different pronunciations---one way means one thing & another something totally different, well I prounced something & the reason they laughed is because the way I sang it is was something dirty. I laughed afterwards. Someday I plan to visit the Phillipines.

I'm an American who has a place both north and south of Manila, and a Filipino family from my wife.

Tastes of some food varies from region to region. One of my favorite Philipino foods when I am there is the Crispy Pata. It's fried pork, with the skin on, so if you're watching the waist line don't eat it, but if not please indulge, It is very tasty. In the north they use a more vinegary sauce, but it has always been amazing every time I've eaten it.
